Event narrative

Flooding was reported on Highway PR-100, from the traffic light at the Cabo Rojo COOP to the intersection with the Santa Ana funeral home. PR-100 in the Mayagez to Cabo Rojo direction and the secondary road are completely impassable.

Wider weather episode

The flooding threat increased as a robust tropical wave moved across the region. This wave combined with instability associated with an upper-level trough. As the wave departed, tropical moisture continued to flux into Puerto Rico. Showers and thunderstorms were numerous, causing flooding, landslide and wind damage.
