Event narrative
A broadcast media outlet reported via social media flooding caused by poor drainage and clogged sewers on PR-308 in Barrio Miradero, Sector Puerto Real, in front of the Puerto Rico Police Departments Cabo Rojo District station. At that time, radar estimates indicated that 2.0 to 2.2 inches of rain had fallen.
Wider weather episode
The flooding threat increased as a robust tropical wave moved across the region. This wave combined with instability associated with an upper-level trough. As the wave departed, tropical moisture continued to flux into Puerto Rico. Showers and thunderstorms were numerous, causing flooding, landslide and wind damage.
