A spark from an ATV caused a fire to ignite in the marsh area near Redgranite on Sunday (11/16) around 11:30 am CST in eastern Waushara County. Very dry conditions leading up to the fire along with gusty northwest winds of 15 to 25 mph and low relative humidity values in the middle 20s that day allowed the fire to spread to 436 acres. The fire led to the closure of parts of state Highways 21 and 49 and was visible on satellite as well as radar imagery. The fire was considered contained by local authorities by 5 pm CST. There were no injuries or fatalities reported from the fire with only one outbuilding impacted from the fire.
