The Weatherflow sensor at Poquoson Light reported a wind gust to 49 knots.

A positively tilted upper trough was located west of the region with a weak surface trough just east of the Blue Ridge. Sufficient wind shear and instability resulted in storms producing strong winds as they moved across the York River, James River, and lower Chesapeake Bay on September 25.
