For the month of September, Graham county ranked the 9th driest for the period of record and Greenlee county ranked the 11th driest for the period of record. Soil moisture readings decreased to range between the 1st and 10th percentile for the month of September.

The exceptional (D4) drought category continued in the far eastern section of Southeastern Arizona. The total area from portions of Graham, Greenlee, and Cochise counties. The overall precipitation for Arizona ranking was 14th driest for the month of September. Soil moisture readings increased to between the 1st to 10th percentile ranking for the area.
