Winter Weather November 16, 2025 – November 17, 2025 · Western Essex, New York

What the National Weather Service wrote

Snowfall totals were generally 2 to 6 inches with the highest totals along the higher elevations.

The wider storm

An area of low pressure across New England during the morning hours of November 16th moved into Newfoundland by November 17th and continued to exit the region.

A counterclockwise, cold, unstable flow across the mountains of northern New York allowed for a orographic, upslope snowfall event that began in the Adirondacks around midday on November 16th and ended around midday on the 17th.

Snowfall was largely confined to the higher elevations and favored northwest upslope regions with 3 to 6 inches of snow but snowfall totals exceeding 8 inches were observed in the highest elevations.
