Wider weather episode
During the late evening of July 30, 2025, numerous thunderstorms developed over the Moneta area to the east of Shoshoni, WY and to the north of Highway 20/26. Radar derived rainfall estimates between 7 PM and 11 PM MDT were 2 to 3 inches, with an additional 1 inch of rainfall estimated the day before (July 29). This caused the highway culverts for Frenchie Draw to be overwhelmed. WYDOT employees at the time observed water 4 ft deep flowing across Highway 20/26 near Frenchie Draw, prompting a closure of the highway for approximately 2 hours, after which time water receded. WYDOT made repairs in Sep 2025 to backfill areas of washout along the road.
