A coastal low lingered near the North Carolina and Virginia coastline on September 16, slowly moving northwest into the Chesapeake Bay by the evening of September 16. This low brought a prolonged period of elevated northerly winds across the Chesapeake Bay, resulting in widespread moderate coastal flooding across Northampton County. Oyster reached 7.74 ft MLLW at 4 PM EST on September 16, Bayford reached 3.75 ft MLLW at 548 PM EST on September 16, Kiptopeke reached 5.31 ft MLLW at 4 PM EST on September 16, and the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel reached 6.14 ft MLLW at 354 PM EST on September 16.
