A reported lightning strike caused a crawl space fire in a single-family home on the 4600 block of Lee Street in Chester, VA.

Wider weather episode

A line of showers and storms, associated with a cold front and lee trough, moved into central and southern Virginia in the late afternoon and evening hours of September 4. While weak instability generally limited storm intensity, the strongest storms produced isolated areas of wind damage as well as lightning. An isolated lightning strike occurred in central Virginia.
