An area of low pressure moved south of the area while cold air remained in place across Virginia. This resulted in a period of snow, sleet, and freezing rain. Snow amounts were generally less than one inch. Ice amounts averaged around a glaze to one tenth of an inch west of US Route 15. Up to two tenths of an inch of ice were reported on the higher ridges of George Washington National Forest, Highland County, and the Blue Ridge.
