Wider weather episode
Strong to severe thunderstorms developed across portions of northeastern Oklahoma during the evening of the 19th, as warm, moist, and unstable air was lifted northward over a warm front that stretched across the area. Very strong wind shear was present across the region due to an approaching strong upper level storm system. This wind shear combined with the instability that was present, resulted in the development of some supercells, the strongest of which produced large hail to three inches in diameter.
