The entire zone remained in Severe(D2) drought in the month of October. The Truth or Consequences Airport recorded 0.55 inches of precipitation which was 0.18 inches below normal.

Wider weather episode

Even with a below average precipitation month for Southern New Mexico, the far west did see some improvement from Exceptional(D4) to Extreme(D3) drought while the remainder of the area had no change.
