Event narrative

Flash flooding occurred in many places in Death Valley National Park. Roads closed due to flooding, debris flows, and damage included North Highway/Scotty's Castle Road, Badwater Road, and Highway 190 west of Darwin Falls. Some of the closed roads had just been reopened four days prior after damage from Tropical Storm Mario followed by the government shutdown.

Low pressure moving in from the Pacific advected in near-record precipitable water for November, fueling heavy rain and flooding.
