Event narrative
State officials reported that thunderstorm winds caused electrical lines to fall onto the roadway along PR-368 near kilometer 8.5 in the Susa Alta area of Yauco. The downed lines obstructed traffic and were in close proximity to nearby residences.
Wider weather episode
A moist and unstable weather pattern, caused by the passage of Tropical Cyclone Melissa off to the south across the Caribbean Sea, affected the islands and led to periods of intense thunderstorms. These thunderstorms resulted in localized impacts, including wind damage and flooding in several areas.
