Event narrative

State officials reported that thunderstorm winds caused a large tree branch to fall onto Road 308 near the Playita Ostiones access in Cabo Rojo. The fallen debris blocked the roadway and disrupted traffic.

Wider weather episode

A moist and unstable weather pattern, caused by the passage of Tropical Cyclone Melissa off to the south across the Caribbean Sea, affected the islands and led to periods of intense thunderstorms. These thunderstorms resulted in localized impacts, including wind damage and flooding in several areas.
