The NWS Damage Assessment Team surveyed wind damage from a strong convective shower that moved through Longview, Washington around 3:13 PM PDT Oct. 12, 2025. Based on the wind damage, estimated peak winds of 80-85 mph occurred, most likely with a wet microburst that produced damaging straight-line winds over a small geographic area.
Wider weather episode
A board upper-level and secondary trough feature dropping southward from Canada in addition to cold air aloft supported convective activity. Some of this strong shower and thunderstorm activity was was unusually impactful producing locally severe outflow winds and a funnel cloud.
