Event narrative

Snowfall amounts around 6 to 8 inches were reported across the county. The largest report was 8.0 inches from 8 miles north of Hillman. There was also a report of several 6 to 8 inch diameter tree branches down in Little Falls due to the heavy snow.

Wider weather episode

A strong low pressure produced a late fall system that brought a round of rain and heavy snow, as well as very gusty winds to the Upper Midwest. The combination of heavy falling snow and northwest winds gusting to around 40 to 50 mph resulted in significant travel impacts, especially across western and central Minnesota where the strongest winds overlapped with falling snow.

The greatest snowfall amounts generally were reported along and north of the I-94 corridor, topping out around 5 to 9 inches.

9.5 inches near Camp Ripley, MN (Morrison).

8.1 inches in Bertha, MN (Todd).

8.0 inches southwest of Vineland, MN (Morrison).

7.2 inches in Long Prairie, MN (Todd).

7.1 inches near Bock, MN (Mille Lacs).

7.0 inches in Carlos, MN (Douglas).

7.0 inches in Little Falls, MN (Morrison).
