Strong northeast winds between coastal low pressure offshore and high pressure over eastern Canada resulted in an extended period of coastal flooding. The gauge at the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel recorded moderate flooding of 5.51 ft MLLW 12:42 PM EDT on October 28th.

Wider weather episode

Low pressure off the Mid-Atlantic coast combined with high pressure in Canada, resulting in a lengthy period of northeasterly onshore flow. Increasing tidal anomalies resulted in moderate to locally major tidal flooding over an extended period.
