Event narrative

The Williams Road Wildfire started in the late afternoon of the 15th southwest of Burnet. The fire was started by a vehicle in dried grass. At the time of the fire start, relative humidity was near 24%, and winds were from the northeast near 10 mph. Above normal temperatures kept minimum RH near 30% over the next few days, but winds remained light. The fire eventually burned 322 acres before being contained on the afternoon of the 17th.

Wider weather episode

Above normal temperatures kept minimum RH 25%-30% over a few days in the middle of the month. Ongoing rainfall deficit allowed fuels to dry leading to an easy fire start. Winds were relatively light during this period.
