Event narrative

The EF-0 tornado began near the intersection of Palermo Drive and Evangeline Street in Sulphur. The tornado then tracked across McMurry Park and into the Maplewood neighborhood. Several homes in the area sustained minor damage, including

damage to roofs, awnings, and fences. There was also tree damage, and a few power lines were pulled from their poles. The tornado continued over Lowe's parking lot before crossing I-10 and dissipating near the intersection of Pete Manena Road and

Bayou D'Inde Road. Tree damage was also observed along I-10 where the tornado crossed the interstate. The maximum estimated winds was 80 mph.

Wider weather episode

A cold front pushed into the region with a line of thunderstorms. One storm produced a tornado. Strong north winds pushed tide levels below normal behind the cold front.
