Tree and power line damage along Shoals Branch Road resulted in power outages in and around Beech Fork State Park.

A quick convective event took place on the evening of November 15th as a cold front swept through West Virginia. Showers and embedded thunderstorms accompanied the frontal boundary, and led to damaging wind gusts that blew down trees and power lines across various locations in the state. This was due to the impressive low level jet parked above the surface, which storms were able to tap into and help mix the stronger winds down to the surface. Main impacts caused by the downed trees were local power outages noted by the utility companies. The cold front passed overhead during the early morning hours of November 16, bringing the threat for damaging wind gusts by storms to an end.
