Wider weather episode
In the wake of a cold front, the state of West Virginia observed gusty winds throughout the day on November 16th. ASOS and Mesonet stations across central and eastern West Virginia recorded the strongest gusts between 40 and 43 miles per hour around the middle of the day. This led to singular instances of downed trees around parts of the state. Winds diminished in strength the next day as strong winds aloft departed eastward and a tightened pressure gradient at the surface began to relax.
