Event narrative
A tree fell onto a truck on Herndon Lane near Dante Mountain Road outside of Clintwood. One person inside the car at the time of the fallen tree sustained minor injuries.
Wider weather episode
On the back side of a cold frontal passage, gusty winds took shape across southwest Virginia due to a tightened pressure gradient on November 16th. Winds throughout the day of 30 to 40 miles per hour were observed across the region. One minor injury occurred due to the stronger winds near Clintwood due to a tree falling onto an occupied car. Winds quickly eased in intensity later that evening into the next day once the pressure gradient began to relax overhead.
