A trained spotter located 2 NNW Blakeman reported that estimated 75 mph winds downed a 7.25 inch healthy tree limb with the winds. A Kansas Mesonet site named Ludell 3 N recorded a 72 mph wind gust.

Wider weather episode

A strong cold front brought high wind gusts up to 85 mph across northwest Kansas during the evening of the 17th into the early morning of the 18th. Numerous wind gusts of 58-80+ mph were observed, with the strongest being just west of Goodland topping out at 85 mph.
