Event narrative
An additional stalled thunderstorm formed over Sharpes and Cocoa, where it produced approximately 6 to 8 inches of rainfall. A portion of US-1 just south of Port St John was washed out near Spring St, as well as multiple segments of Indian River Dr. between Blacks Rd. and City Point Rd. At least 60 homes and businesses were affected, with 50 reporting minor to major damage due to water entering structures. This was part of a rare, high-impact flood event that also impacted Tiusville, Mims, and north Merritt Island, with a 12-hour annual exceedance probability (AEP or the percent chance of an event occurring in any calendar year) between 0.5% and 0.2%, alternatively known as a 200 to 500-year rainfall event.
