Event narrative

A 76 mph wind gust was reported at the Camp Creek RAWS site, and a 74 mph gust near South Pass above Red Canyon.

Wider weather episode

A fast moving cold front and trough combined with a strong jet streak brought high wind to portions of central Wyoming. The most impacted area was Natrona County, where wind gusted as high as 72 mph with numerous reports of wind gusts over 60 mph. Wind gusts past 58 mph were also reported in the lower elevations of Park, Johnson and Sublette Counties. A wind gust of 89 mph was recorded in the Tetons. South Pass gusted to 74 mph.
