Event narrative
Patchy fog developed over the Yampa River Basin during the morning of October 6. The KCAG ASOS at the Craig-Moffat County Airport reported decreasing visibility for about 4 hours overnight, including about half an hour of visibility dropping to or below 1/4 mile shortly after sunrise. No reports of injuries, damages, or fatalities were received.
Wider weather episode
Weak surface moisture moved through the region around a southern CONUS high pressure system. Skies remained clear due to a dry mid-level atmosphere though. Overnight temperatures fell to near or below freezing across much of northern Colorado as a result, leading to the formation of patchy dense fog.
