Event narrative
Widespread fog developed within the Grand Valley resulting from heavy rainfall on October 10 and 11. The KGJT ASOS at the Grand Junction Regional Airport reported sustained periods of reduced visibility from mist and fog beginning early in the morning on the 10th and persisting into the late morning on the 11th. The KGJT ASOS would report dense fog reducing visibility to 1/4 mile for about a half an hour shortly before midnight. No reports of injuries, damages, or fatalities were received.
Wider weather episode
Remnants of Tropical Storm Priscilla brought record-breaking moisture and widespread precipitation to western Colorado on October 10th and 11th. Portions of the region saturated under heavy rainfall with many locations experiencing periodic drops in visibility due to mist beginning early in the morning on the 10th and persisting into the early afternoon on the 11th. Dense fog was also able to develop overnight across the Grand Valley and in lower valleys along the I-70 corridor.
