Wider weather episode

A broad area of snow north of a low pressure system moved into lower Michigan during the mid-late afternoon hours on the 29th. This continued through the night, with some east/southeast flow lake enhancement along the Lake Huron coastline slowly rotating back toward the coast toward morning as the surface low occluded across southern lower Michigan. An area of lake enhanced snowfall ultimately pivoted westward across the Tip of the Mitt during the morning hours, eventually congealing into an east-west oriented line of snow that swept southward across northern Lower Michigan through the middle of the day. Behind this, north flow lake effect snow took over. Highest snowfall totals were generally across northeast Lower Michigan, as well as the Cedarville area in the eastern U.P. where as much as 8 to 10 inches of snow fell.
