Event narrative

Bynum W (MT Mesonet) measured a 93 mph wind gust and measured an averaged sustained wind of 62 mph between 12:20 and 15:10 MST. Golleham (MT Mesonet), Augusta N (MT Mesonet), and Mesonet station DELMT Dellwo (MCSCN) measured high sustained winds and high wind gusts. Mesonet station DVI01084 Dupuyer, and AWOS station K1FM Foxtrot also measured high wind gusts.

Wider weather episode

An upper level ridge broke down, bringing strong winds aloft. A strong pressure gradient and mountain wave activity helped mix down these strong winds along the Rocky Mountain Front.
