Mesonet station MTGYS Geyser (MT DOT) measured an average sustained wind of 43 mph between 10:30 and 11:45 MST. They also had a high wind gust of 60 mph.

An upper level ridge broke down, bringing strong winds aloft. A strong pressure gradient and mountain wave activity helped mix down these strong winds along the Rocky Mountain Front.
