Severe thunderstorm winds downed trees on Highway 161 near Boyd Holland Road in Springfield. Over 1,000 customers were without power. Damages are a rough estimate.

Wider weather episode

A cold front moving through Middle Tennessee during the evening of December 28, 2025, brought a line of showers and thunderstorms into the area. Gusty winds were associated with this activity, and while they generally remained sub-severe, a couple trees were reported down in the Springfield area.
