Event narrative
Two Glacier NP sensors measured gusts in excess of 75 mph, including Logan Pass and Sunpoint. The peak gust observed was at Logan Pass and was 81 mph.
Wider weather episode
Strong zonal flow coinciding with the passage of a shortwave trough was translated to the surface, primarily during the evening of the 8th and into the 9th over the plains and adjacent areas. The strongest winds were more isolated east of I-15 over the plains, but did occur.
