AWOS station K1OM Oscar measured a peak gust of 64 mph. MT DOT sensor at Beacon Hill also measured criteria gusts, including a peak of 61 mph.
Wider weather episode
Strong zonal flow coinciding with the passage of a shortwave trough was translated to the surface, primarily during the evening of the 8th and into the 9th over the plains and adjacent areas. The strongest winds were more isolated east of I-15 over the plains, but did occur.
