Most observation sites in the zone reported persistent wind gusts between 65 and 80 MPH. Peak gust was 81 MPH recorded at Remount Road near Buford Wyoming.

Wider weather episode

A strong jet stream aloft parked itself over southern Wyoming for a prolonged high wind event that lingered into the early morning hours of the 10th of December. Multiple wind gusts over hurricane force were reported with several 16 wheelers blown over across Interstate 80 and Interstate 25.
