The West Texas Mesonet station 60 Pine Springs GMNP recorded intermittent high winds for approximately 3 hours. The highest gust was 63 mph.
Wider weather episode
Gusty southwesterly winds developed in response to lee surface troughing ahead of an incoming shortwave during the late morning/early afternoon of the 2nd. Winds became particularly strong in the Guadalupes as the shortwave passed over the area, yielding intermittent gusty winds there during the early afternoon.
