Event narrative

Official NWS Observation of 7.0 inches was reported in Jericho. A COOP observer reported 9.0 inches in Syosett. The general public reported 7.9 inches at 1 WSW Upper Brookville, 6.5 inches in Sea Cliff, and 6.4 inches at Glen Cove, and 6.1 inches in East Williston. A trained spotter reported 5.8 inches in Manhasset Hills.

Advisory and some Warning level snowfall occurred across SE New York. An quasi arctic / polar boundary moved across the region as elongated weak low pressure formed along the boundary and moved along the boundary to the east northeast. The region was on the cold side of the boundary which resulted in accumulating snowfall region wide.
