Trained spotters reported 8.0 inches at 2 SSE Plainedge and 6.2 inches in Bellmore. Broadcast media reported 6.1 inches in South Merrick. The public reported 7.0 inches at 1 NNW East Massapequa and 6.2 inches in West Hempstead and 5.8 inches at 1 S South Massapequa.

An quasi arctic / polar boundary moved across the region as elongated weak low pressure formed along the boundary and moved along the boundary to the east northeast. The region was on the cold side of the boundary which resulted in accumulating snowfall region wide.
