A trained spotter reported 6.0 inches in Copiague, and an NWS Employee reported 6.1 inches in Sayville. The public reported 7.0 inches in Blue Point, 6.5 inches in East Islip, 7.0 inches in Islandia, and 7.3 inches in Bohemia. An NWS Employee reported 7.1 inches at 1 NNE Sayville.

Advisory and some Warning level snowfall occurred across SE New York. An quasi arctic / polar boundary moved across the region as elongated weak low pressure formed along the boundary and moved along the boundary to the east northeast. The region was on the cold side of the boundary which resulted in accumulating snowfall region wide.
