An advisory level snowfall occurred with a trained spotter reporting 4.0 inches in Orient and 3.3 inches in Mattituck. An NWS Employee reported 4.8 inches at 3 WNW Riverhead. The public reported 6.0 inches at 1 NE Calverton.

Wider weather episode

Advisory and some Warning level snowfall occurred across SE New York. An quasi arctic / polar boundary moved across the region as elongated weak low pressure formed along the boundary and moved along the boundary to the east northeast. The region was on the cold side of the boundary which resulted in accumulating snowfall region wide.
