An advisory level snow fell across the zone with the public reporting 5.5 inches in Bayside, and the official NWS observation at JFK was 2.6 inches. A trained spotter reported 3.8 inches at 1 S Jackson Heights. The public reported 3.3 inches at 2 S Elmhurst.

Wider weather episode

Advisory and some Warning level snowfall occurred across SE New York. An quasi arctic / polar boundary moved across the region as elongated weak low pressure formed along the boundary and moved along the boundary to the east northeast. The region was on the cold side of the boundary which resulted in accumulating snowfall region wide.
