Winter Weather — Carter, Kentucky

2025-12-08 · Carter, Kentucky

Wider weather episode

During the predawn hours of December 8th, snow showers began to spread across northeast Kentucky due to a passing disturbance. Local cooperative observers measured snow amounts of less than an inch with their morning observation, followed by amounts nearing 2 to 4 inches later that afternoon and evening when a heavier band of snow laid over the area. This winter storm quickly pressed eastward that evening, allowing for high pressure to build in from the west and for drier weather to filter back into the area.
