Winter Weather — Dickenson, Virginia

Wider weather episode
A quick hitting winter storm swept across southwest Virginia on December 8th and brought light snow accumulations to the area. Snow showers arrived just before sunrise and prevailed into the evening before departing eastward. Members of the local Department of Highways for both Buchanan and Dickenson Counties estimated anywhere between 2 to 3.5 inches of snow fell across the area, with the higher amounts located along the mountainous terrain. High pressure built into the area in the wake of the passing system, bringing drier weather back into the region late that night into the next day.
