In the midst of episodic weather events across the region, a quick clipper system progressed through southern West Virginia on December 12th. This disturbance brought light snow amounts, ranging between 1 to 3 inches, embedded within periods of rain to the southern coalfields during the morning commute into the early afternoon. Trained spotters and local members of Department of Highways measured snow amounts nearing 3 inches from Wayne to Wyoming Counties. Snow mixed over to all rain later on that afternoon, bringing this winter event to an end.
