Winter Weather — Greenup, Kentucky

2025-12-13 to 2025-12-14 · Greenup, Kentucky

Wider weather episode

A clipper system progressing over the area from December 13th to the 14th contributed to the most notable snow accumulations in northeast Kentucky for the month. The orientation of these snow showers from southeast to northwest caused a staggered start time to precipitation, first falling over Greenup County around midday and slowly reaching southward into Lawrence County by that evening.

Heavy snow showers swept through the region late on the 13th into the early morning on the 14th, before the disturbance shifted eastward out of the area. While northeast Kentucky remained mostly south of the heaviest snow from this event, accumulations still ranged between 1 to 4 inches for Boyd, Carter, Greenup, and Lawrence Counties.
