Trained spotters reported 7.1 inches at 2 ENE New Canaan, 6.1 inches in Darien, and 5.9 inches at 1 W Stamford. Cocorahs reported 7.2 inches in New Canaan, 6.0 inches in Shelton, 6.0 inches in Stratford, 5.5 inches at 0.9 W Trumbull, 5.5 inches at 1.3 W Shelton, and 6.0 inches in Norwalk.

Wider weather episode

A progressive shortwave from the west overran a cold high pressure system resulting in a significant snowfall across the region. Warm advection aloft was the main driver of the snowfall for much of the event. A significant snowfall occurred across Southern Connecticut.
