Trained spotters reported 5.0 inches in Lyndhurst, 4.2 inches in Northvale, and 3.4 inches at 1 WSW Wallington. Cocorahs reported 3.8 inches in Tenafly, 3.5 inches in Fair Lawn, 3.5 inches in Palisades Park, and 3.3 inches at 0.7 SSW River Edge.

Wider weather episode

A progressive shortwave from the west overran a cold high pressure system resulting in a significant snowfall across the region. Warm advection aloft was the main driver of the snowfall for much of the event. An accumulating snowfall occurred across Northeastern New Jersey.
