The public reported 3.7 inches at 1 NE Union, 3.1 inches at 1 S Mountainside, 3.0 inches at 1 NW Cranford, and 3.0 inches at 1 NNW Westfield. Cocorahs reported 2.8 inches in New Providence.

The wider storm

A progressive shortwave from the west overran a cold high pressure system resulting in a significant snowfall across the region. Warm advection aloft was the main driver of the snowfall for much of the event. An accumulating snowfall occurred across Northeastern New Jersey.
