Trained spotters reported 4.0 inches at 3 WNW Warwick and 6.0 inches in Monroe. Cocorahs observers reported 5.1 inches at 4 SSE Chester, 4.0 inches in Warwick, and 3.6 inches in Port Jervis, 5.5 inches at 3.3 W New Windsor, and 6.0 inches at Cornwall-on-the- Hudson. The public reported 5.7 inches 2 SSW Stewart Airport and 5.6 inches at 2 E Highland Mills. Amateur radio reported 5.0 inches at 2 NW Stewart Airport. Amounts averaged just short of warning criteria both numerically and spatially.

Wider weather episode

A progressive shortwave from the west overran a cold high pressure system resulting in a significant snowfall across the region. Warm advection aloft was the main driver of the snowfall for much of the event. Advisory to Warning level snow fell across Southeastern New York.
