A trained spotter reported 7.0 inches in Mahopac, and cocorahs observers reported 7.8 inches in Cold Spring, 7.2 inches at 0.3 S Nelsonville, and 7.0 inches at 0.7 NE Lake Carmel. 5.7 inches was also reported at 2 W Putnam Valley.

Wider weather episode

A progressive shortwave from the west overran a cold high pressure system resulting in a significant snowfall across the region. Warm advection aloft was the main driver of the snowfall for much of the event. Advisory to Warning level snow fell across Southeastern New York.
